Former Siaya County Assembly Clerk, Felix Isaac Olwero, was shot dead by police in a suspected case of mistaken identity outside his Whitehouse Resort in Seme, Kisumu County.
The 50-year-old, who was also the owner of the resort, was allegedly responding to reports of a break-in at the premises when police mistook him for one of the suspects and shot him dead.
According to police reports, officers from Kombewa Police Station had been sent to the scene following a distress call from the resort’s manager, Sandra Okech.
Arriving at the resort, the police spotted a group of armed six men who started charging at them, in the process, one of the policemen fired the weapons.
As a result, they accidentally shot Olwero who had stepped out to access the situation.
Olwero’s body was transferred to the Kombewa Subcounty Referral Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem.
