2 Suspect Arrested, Items Looted During Protests Recovered in Laikipia

Two individuals have been arrested in Laikipia after police recovered items suspected to have been looted during the recent protests.

In a statement on July 30, the National Police Service (NPS) noted that the arrests were made after a search operation in Majengo Village on Tuesday, July 29. 

NPS went on to disclose that the operation was led by the Officer Commanding Nanyuki Police Station (OCS) and targeted locations believed to be hiding stolen goods.

According to NPS, the suspects were found with a wide range of goods believed to have been stolen from various businesses during the protests.

Moreover, police recovered medical and electronic equipment suspected to have been taken from a local chemist that was vandalised during the unrest.

The suspects are currently being held in custody as police continue with processing and prepare to take them to court. 

The seized items have been secured at Nanyuki Police Station and will be used as evidence in the case.
