Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino has declared that he will vie for the 2027 gubernatorial bid, whether or not he will be supported by his party, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).
The Embakasi MP stated that he would contest for the seat as an independent candidate if necessary.
“I know ODM will not give me the ticket because Johnson Sakaja was endorsed in the Bomas of Kenya. I am criticising the broad-based government because it is the right thing to do. As a leader, I cannot see wrong and support in a public forum, not even in private”, Babu Owino said.

The MP slammed Sakaja, such as poor drainage, financial mismanagement, claiming that the governor has shown poor leadership.
He further maintained that his loyalty to former Prime Minister Raila Odinga will remain.
“In a family set-up, a father can love one child more than another, but that can not make me bitter with my father or hate him. He is Baba. He is someone I have always believed in,” he added.
