Juja Member of Parliament George Koimburi has been charged with staging his abduction to avoid arrest over alleged land fraud.
Koimburi was arraigned at the Milimani Law Courts on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, where he faced multiple charges such as conspiracy to defeat justice and publishing false information.
According to the ODPP, charges of publishing false information were from a video released by Koimburi on June 7, 2025, while he was at Karen Hospital, in which he alleged that he had been abducted and tortured.
According to the prosecution, the video was an attempt by the lawmaker to mislead the public since no abduction was ever proven to have taken place, and the fake kidnapping on May 25, 2025, in the Mugutha area of Juja sub-county in Kiambu County was a well-orchestrated plot.
Further more, the abduction incident occurred shortly before Koimburi’s expected court appearance, where he was due to answer four charges relating to land fraud.
The Juja MP denied all the charges, and was released on a cash bail of Ksh300,000.
The case is set for mention on August 5.
