Police from Utalii Police Station have arrested a suspect believed to be behind a spate of electronic thefts in Nairobi.
According to the National Police Service (NPS) in a statement, the suspect who runs an electronic repair workshop in Mathare was apprehended following an operation.
“Acting on intelligence, police officers from Utalii Police Station conducted an operation on 10 July 2025 at the residence of a suspect who operates an electronic repair workshop in the Mathare area, Nairobi,” read the NPS statement in part.

During the operation, officers recovered 72 stolen mobile phones, two laptops, a Universal Flashing Interface (UFI), a Pandora device, a camera, two external hard drives and a CPU.
NPS moreover disclosed that 32 of the recovered mobile phones have already been positively identified by complainants from M-KOPA Company.
The suspect was placed in custody, awaiting arraignment in court as investigations continue.
NPS further thanked members of the public for providing the information that led to the arrest of the suspect and the recovery of stolen items.
