The Law Society of Kenya (LSK) has arrested a woman in Machakos town over allegations of impersonating an advocate at Maweu and Co.Advocates despite not being registered with the society.

The apprehension took place in a crackdown by LSK targeting law firms in Machakos town.

According to reports, the woman was performing the duties of an advocate, including swearing and commissioning affidavits, drawing pleadings and illegally collecting money.

The suspect was caught inside the firm while waiting to have conversations with clients.

She was immediately taken into custody and will face legal action.

This comes a month after two people were arrested in Siaya while six in Bungoma and two in Garissa were imposing themselves as lawyers.

The LSK stated that the operation was part of a broader initiative to eliminate quack practitioners and uphold professional integrity in Kenya’s legal sector.
