Former Chief Justice David Maraga has called out the government over its handling of recent protests
The former CJ described the handling of the protests as a constitutional or ethnic crisis, noting that this was a result of failed leadership and weakened public institutions.
He also condemned the killing of protesters, the use of force on unarmed civilians, and the destruction of property witnessed during the recent commemoration of the Saba Saba Day.

Maraga went on to accuse the President of abandoning his duty and presiding over a government that has turned security agencies against their people.
He moreover acknowledged the bravery of the youth-led protests, saying the demonstrators represent the broader frustration of millions of Kenyans facing economic hardship and poor public services, mourning the loss of lives, with families affected.
Maraga further proposed a four-point plan that includes listening to the youth, rejecting elite settlements, prosecuting those behind the violence and destruction.
The remarks comes hours after 11 people were killed and over 50 others injured during the Monday Saba Saba protests.
The National Police Service (NPS) in a statement said 567 individuals were arrested and significant property was damaged.
