A fire erupted at Onjiko High School in Kisumu County, destroying a dormitory on Monday, July 7, 2025.
According to reports, the fire razed the second floor of a dormitory building as onlookers watched helplessly.
Flames were spreading to the roof and posing risk to the structures in the school.
So far, no casualties were reported from the blaze.
The cause of the fire remains unknown, but reports indicate that the fire destroyed students’ possessions.
The incidents comes just after a fire was reported at Embakasi Girls’ High School.
Students were captured watching from the ground as the raging flames and smoke billowed from the windows of the topmost floor of the block.
The incident which was confirmed by the Kenya Red Cross, left no casualties, but learning materials of undisclosed value were damaged by the fire.
