Fire Breaks Out at Embakasi Girls Secondary School

A fire broke out in Embakasi Girls Secondary School in Mukuru, Nairobi, on Sunday morning, July 6.

The incident was confirmed by the Kenya Red Cross, which dispatched its emergency response team to manage the situation.

Images seen by whisperswire.com showed clouds of smoke spiraling out of a high-rise block of dormitories within the school compound.

By the time of this publication, no casualties were reported but property and learning materials of a yet-to-be-disclosed value were damaged by the fire.

Students were also captured watching from the ground as the raging flames and smoke billowed from the windows of the topmost floor of the block.

Taking to the socials, Embakasi East MP Babu Owino empathised with the students and teachers at the school.

The MP shared in the pain of the losses incurred by the school following the tragedy.

“We are deeply saddened to learn about the devastating fire at Embakasi Girls High School, Embakasi South constituency, which has caused significant damage to property and the learning environment. In this difficult time, please know that our thoughts are with the students, teachers, staff, and families affected by this unfortunate incident. While the loss is great, we stand in full solidarity with the school community as they begin the journey of recovery and rebuilding. Tragedies like this remind us of the strength of unity and support,” he said.
