The Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) has officially opened its portal for the 2025–2026 academic year loans and scholarships.
In a notice dated July 2, HELB invited first-time and continuing students to apply for undergraduate and TVET loans and scholarships.
“The 2025-2026 First Time and Subsequent Applications for Undergraduate & TVET Loans & Scholarships are now open.Apply via www.hef.co.ke for first-time applicants or dial *642# or HELB-App for continuing students,” the notice read.

HELB moreover urged eligible students to apply for loans and scholarships early to avoid last-minute inconveniences.
The deadline for the applications is August 31, 2025.
The loans and scholarships are designed to support tuition and upkeep for students in both public and private universities and TVET institutions across the country under the government’s new financing model.
This comes after Education CS Julius Ogamba released the 2025 Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) placement results.
