Court Disrupted as Man Confronts IG Kanja’s Lawyer

A man briefly interrupted the court proceedings on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, by reportedly calling out the Inspector General (IG) Douglas Kanja for further alleged abductions.

The IG was expected to present himself at the Milimani Law Courts on Monday after Justice Chacha Mwitu directed him to either produce the missing blogger Ndiang’ui Kinyagia in court or explain his disappearance.

However, Kanja failed to appear in court but instead was represented by his lawyer, who tried to explain the reasons behind his absence.

This did not go well with one of the attendees at the hearing, who interrupted the proceedings who claiming that it is not right to abduct someone and fail to bring them to court.

“You must stop the abductions. You must stop the extrajudicial killings. We will not come here to listen to your stories. You have abducted someone, and their family is hurting, yet you are here telling us stories. It is not right to abduct someone and fail to bring them to court”, he said.

Attempts by the security personnel to calm him down bore no fruit as he continued to rant, calling out security agencies in the country.

“This is not right. Why should they abduct someone, and instead of presenting them to court, they are talking about ‘My Client? What are we supposed to do if the people who are supposed to protect us have turned out to be the greatest threat to our security?” he added.
