The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has claimed that blogger Ndiangui Kinyagia, who went missing on June 22, is not in police custody.
Reports indicated that Kinyagia wa forcefully picked from his house in Kinoo by suspected security officers in Subaru vehicles.
Since then, his whereabouts have become unknown.
In a press briefing, DCI boss Amin Mohammed said police did not know the whereabouts of the blogger.
“Ndiangui is not under the custody of the National Police Service. He is a person of interest to us, and wherever he is, I would urge that he submit and surrender himself to the DCI”, Amin said.
“He was a person of interest to us after he published very, very inflammatory material on social media. We managed to recover an assortment of electronic gadgets we believe would be useful to us in our investigations”, the DCI boss said, claiming that the police officers only searched his house.
This comes after the High Court ordered Inspector General IG Kanja to produce the blogger in court without fail or explain his whereabouts.
