Two police officers have lost their lives after a tragic shooting incident at Ng’iya Police Post in Siaya County over an alleged disagreement.
According to a report from Gem Yala Sub-County Police Commander Charles Wafula, the incident occurred at around 6am when Constable Martin Mwendwa reportedly shot and killed his superior, Corporal Chesise, who was the officer in charge of the station.
He went on to disclose that the officer armed himself with a G3 rifle, entered the corporal’s residence and opened fire, fatally wounding him in the chest and arms.

It is also alleged that after committing the heinous act, he soon launched an escape strategy towards Ng’iya Girls’ High School.
However, the officer’s attempt to flee was cut short after he was intercepted and fatally shot by fellow officers during the confrontation.
Police are currently looking into whether the two had a disagreement or it was a case of mental breakdown.
Additional reports indicate that the officer had initially attempted to fire several rounds in the air to scare away his colleagues who were in pursuit.
The bodies of both officers have since been taken to Siaya County Referral Hospital mortuary for postmortem examinations.
