The Communication Authority of Kenya (CAK) has ordered all media houses to stop the live coverage of the protests.
The letter was sent to media houses on Wednesday, June 25, and shared online by Royal Media Services (RMS) Group Editorial Director Linus Kaikai.
In the letter addressed to media houses, CA noted that the live broadcasts were contrary to the law.

The notice also warned broadcasters that failure to comply with the directive could result in regulatory sanctions under current media laws.
The Authority did not however explain the specific nature of potential penalties, but did emphasize its expectation of full compliance.
The order comes as the nationwide protests continue marking the one-year anniversary of the deadly June 25, 2024 demonstrations.
The last year demonstration left dozens dead and sparked global condemnation for alleged police brutality.
