President William Ruto was spotted in Kilifi County attending the funeral of Mzee Gideon Mung’aro, Father of Kilifi Governor Gideon Mung’aro amid protests.
Several leaders who also attended the funeral included ODM leader Raila Odinga, Senate Speaker Amason Kingi and Cabinet Secretary for Mining and Blue Economy Hassan Joho.
Meanwhile, back in Nairobi, heavy policemen were deployed as Kenyans took to the streets to demonstrate for the anniversary of dozens who were killed by alleged police brutality last year on June 25, protests.
Roads leading to Nairobi CBD were blocked by dawn, forcing commuters to walk the rest of the way.
Razor wire was also used to seal all the approaches to the State House and Parliament due to high alert on what happened last year during the chaotic protests, where demonstrators were able to enter and occupy parliament.
