Homabay MP Peter Kaluma has cautioned leaders against politics at the funeral of blogger Albert Ojwang.
In a statement on his X account, Kaluma emphasised that the occasion should be to honour the life of Ojwang and not a forum for politics.
“We will send off our son Albert Ojwang soon. It will be our funeral to mourn and pay last respect to our son, not a forum for politics”, he wrote.
The Homabay MP also warned those who played politics in the death of Albert not to attend the burial.
“Please don’t come if you played politics with the sad death of Albert. I say thank you to all those who have stood with the family during this dark time”, he further stated.
Blogger Albert Ojwang died while in police custody at Central Police Station.
Reports indicated that he was arrested in Homabay for publishing an offensive post on social media, and he was transferred to Nairobi.
His death sparked outrage amongst the public, who staged a protest to seek justice for his death.
Among those arrested were the station OCS Talaam and a constable who have so far been arraigned in court and are to be detained for 15 days awaiting completion of the investigation.
