Three men have been charged with the murder of Kasipul MP Charles Ong’ondo Were.
The suspects were identified as William Imoli Shingali, Edwin Oduor, and Ebel Ochieng pleaded not guilty to the murder.
They were presented in court following an earlier directive which required them to undergo a mental assessment before taking a plea.
However, the report tabled before the court showed that all three have been evaluated and cleared by medical professionals, paving the way for the commencement of criminal proceedings.

During the court proceedings, the court ordered a probation report to be prepared with both the investigating officer and the probation officer indicating that they require 30 days to compile the report before it is presented for the court’s consideration.
The High Court also declined bail applications for the three accused persons in the murder of the Kasipul MP, claiming that they cannot be released due to the serious nature of the case.
The matter will therefore be mentioned on 17th July to confirm the progress report, while in the meantime, the accused will remain in custody.
