Manchester City striker Erling Haaland is set to make his return from injury this weekend.
Haaland has been sidelined since March due to an ankle injury he sustained during an FA Cup match against Bournemouth. Fortunately, he is recovering just in time to compete in the final of the FA Cup later this month.
The 24-year-old Norway international was an unused substitute when City secured a 1-0 victory against Wolves in the Premier League last week, boosting their hopes for the Champions League.
Before City’s trip to Southampton on Saturday, manager Pep Guardiola spoke about Haaland’s readiness:
“He is ready; he is fit. Whether he will start, we will see tomorrow.”
Currently, City sits third in the Premier League table, three points ahead of sixth-placed Nottingham Forest. Many clubs are vying for one of the top-five positions that will grant them Champions League qualification for next season.
After facing Southampton, Guardiola’s squad will clash with Crystal Palace in the FA Cup final at Wembley on May 17, followed by matches against Bournemouth and Fulham to wrap up their league campaign.
