AirAsia Suspends Services From Nairobi to Malaysia

AirAsia has recently announced that it will be suspending its direct flights between Nairobi and Kuala Lumpur beginning September 1, 2025.

According to the airline, the suspension is due to network optimisation initiative.

In a statement sent to customers and travel partners, the airline expressed regret over the move, acknowledging the disruption it may cause to passengers’ travel plans.

“We regret to inform you that AirAsia will be suspending services from Nairobi to Kuala Lumpur and from Kuala Lumpur to Nairobi starting September 1, 2025, until further notice as part of a network optimisation initiative. We understand this news may be disappointing and will impact your clients’ travel plans. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused,” read the statement.

The airline went on to put in place a series of service recovery options to assist passengers affected by the route suspension. 

The airline further noted that customers holding tickets for travel beyond the suspension date can consider a flight change and move their travel to an earlier date. 

Additionally, for customers unable to change their travel plans, the airline is also offering full refunds.

AirAsia X inaugurated its direct service between Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) on November 15, 2024.
