The Directorate of Criminal Investigations has recovered two AK-47 rifles believed to have been used in the attack on three National Police Reservists (NPR) earlier this month.
In a recent statement issued by the DCI, the recovery was made during a joint operation at Lemorijo village in Lengurma Location, Isiolo North Sub-County.
The detectives noted that the two rifles, both with empty magazines, were found hidden in the area.

“Earlier today, a joint operation led by the DCI Crime Scene Investigations (CSI) team, supported by GSU Kipsing, successfully recovered two AK-47 rifles with empty magazines at Lemorijo village, Lengurma Location, Isiolo North Sub-County,” the statement read.
According to the DCI, the operation was launched after the brutal attack that occurred on April 7, where three NPR officers from Igembe North, Meru County, were shot dead by armed raiders.
The three officers were killed, several injured and their firearms were stolen during a fierce gun battle with bandits at Meru.
“The operation was in response to the brutal incident that occurred on 7th April 2025, where three National Police Reservists (NPR) from Igembe North, Meru County, were fatally shot by armed raiders. The recovered rifles are believed to have been used during the attack,” DCI said.
