Drama unfolded at Rongo Police Station in Migori County when 57 rescued worshippers refused to go home.
At the Melkio St. Joseph Missions of Messaiha Africa Church, two people had already been reported dead, whereas the 57 remaining people refused to seek medical attention.
According to the Migori County Commissioner, Mutua Kisilu, there were registration anomalies while setting up the facility which remains restricted by police officers conducting investigation.
He noticed that the church was registered as a company.

Kisilu added that the standoff led to eight children being transferred to nearby facilities.
He further stated that some of the residents have already come searching for their missing kin.
“One of my sons is among them at the police station. He refused to return home. Four other residents have never been seen since joining this church,” one of the residents told Citizen Digital.
Now the police are suggesting it might be a probable cult link.
No suspect has so far been arrested about the deaths, which allegedly occurred inside the church premises.
