MP Sudi Claims He Gave Gachagua Money to Campaign

Kapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi has claimed that he gave former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua money to campaign during the 2022 general elections.

Speaking during an interview, MP Sudi accused Gachagua of lying to Kenyans that he spent his money to campaign for President Ruto.

He went on to allege that the former DP did not have money during the campaigns ahead of the 2022 election.

“Rigathi Gachagua knows how much money I gave him to campaign. He goes around lying to people that he funded the campaigns. Let’s be honest, Gachagua didn’t even have a single cent,” Sudi claimed.

Sudi moreover dismissed claims that Gachagua was picked as Ruto’s running mate due to his financial capability and mobilizing skills.

“We chose Gachagua for our strategic reasons and because we saw that he was older. The person who was supposed to be Deputy President was Ndindi Nyoro, but we thought many people would say he’s too young and that we might end up misusing him. So, we decided to go with Gachagua because he’s older, but it turned out he had a lot of issues,” Sudi alleged.

Gachagua had previously claimed that he single-handedly funded the UDA presidential campaign in Mt Kenya and was not given even a shilling by President Ruto.

“I’m a rich man, I made a lot of money during the Kibaki government and I financed UDA campaigns without receiving a penny from President Ruto in Mt Kenya,” Gachagua stated.
