Arsenal Beat Ipswich to Delay Liverpool’s Premier League Title Party

Arsenal thwarted Liverpool’s hopes of winning the Premier League title this weekend by comfortably defeating 10-man Ipswich at Portman Road.

In their first match since eliminating Real Madrid to advance to the Champions League semi-finals, the Gunners delivered another impressive performance against an Ipswich side that is on the brink of relegation.

Arsenal dominated from the beginning and took the lead in the 14th minute when Bukayo Saka’s cross into the box was slightly touched by Martin Odegaard before being turned into the net by Leandro Trossard.

They doubled their lead later in the first half after more excellent work by Saka. His cross into the area was cleverly flicked on by Mikel Merino, allowing Gabriel Martinelli to tap it into an empty net.

Things got even tougher for Ipswich when Leif Davis received a red card in the 32nd minute for a poor tackle on Saka.

Trossard added his second goal of the game in the 69th minute, finishing smartly from inside the area after a well-executed short corner from Arsenal.

Substitute Ethan Nwaneri capped off the scoring for Arsenal with a deflected shot two minutes before the end of the match.

The Gunners created several other opportunities to add to their tally, with notable chances for Merino and two for Saka, which Mikel Arteta would have expected to be converted.

This match marked Ipswich’s seventh home defeat of the 2025 season, leaving them struggling to maintain their Premier League status for at least one more week.
