Chaos was witnessed at Taqwa Mosque in Njiru in an alleged dispute over the mosque’s leadership.
Reports indicate that the officers were able to calm the situation and left the mosque.
However, upon their departure, Imam descended upon the mosque with a court order claiming leadership.
An altercation arose with the Imam stabbing two people.
One of the victims stated that the dispute has been a long-term .
He added that Imam is not a member of the community.
“Every time he tries to take leadership of the mosque, he likes to hide inside the mosque, not because her is not a member of this community. He uses his title of Imam to barge his way through our affairs, “he said.
“We were telling him that he should not be here because he is not part of us. That is when he decided to stab me,” the victim added.
The stabbed victims were rushed to Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital, where their wounds were treated.
Imam, on the other hand, was nabbed and taken into custody as investigations continue.
