Inter Milan Edge Off Bayern to Book Champions League Semi-finals

Inter Milan secured their place in the Champions League semi-finals after a thrilling draw against Bayern Munich at San Siro Stadium.

The match began with a lively pace, hinting at an eventful second half, although clear chances were scarce in the first period. The Italian champions held a 2-1 lead from the first leg, but that advantage was quickly erased when Harry Kane scored a crisp, low strike early in the second half.

Kane’s goal energized Inter, and just nine minutes later, they took the lead in the match and gained control of the tie. Lautaro Martinez scored first, striking from six yards after the ball fell to him following a corner.

Three minutes later, another corner resulted in a powerful header from defender Benjamin Pavard, connecting with Hakan Calhanoglu’s delivery to extend Inter’s advantage.

Bayern Munich did not back down, and with 14 minutes remaining, they equalized thanks to Eric Dier’s looping header from a tight angle at the back post.

Vincent Kompany’s team pressed for a third goal to push the match into extra time, and in the fifth of six added minutes, they had their opportunity. However, Thomas Müller failed to direct his header past Inter goalkeeper Yann Sommer.

Tensions ran high as the clock wound down, highlighted by Bayern substitute Josip Stanisic shoving a ballboy off his stool after the boy threw the ball away in an effort to waste time.

Despite the late scare, it was Inter who advanced to face Barcelona in a highly anticipated last-four matchup. Under the guidance of Simone Inzaghi, the experienced squad continues to pursue their Treble ambitions, currently leading Serie A by three points and competing in the Coppa Italia semi-finals.
