Former UDA Secretary General Cleophas Malala has been released.
The former senator was arrested and detained at Eldama Ravine police station and also Central Police Station.
He is the writer behind the controversial Butere Girl’s play drama ‘Echoes of war’.
He was arrested outside Kirobon Girls High School, where Butere Girls were rehearsing the play.

Earlier, he had addressed the press while inside Nakuru Central Police Station.
While speaking, he slammed the government and President William Ruto over ‘attempts to limit constitutional freedoms’.
On Thursday, April 10, 2025, Butere Girls students opted out of the festivals due to the huge police presence at the venue.
This was after members of the public and the press were blocked from gaining access to the venue.
Ugly scenes were witnessed at the school after police threw tear gas canisters at the students who were speaking to the press.
Malala claimed that 15 students from the school who were scheduled to perform at the event were unaccounted for.
