Busia Senator and activist Okiyah Omtatah has promised to sue President William Ruto and Uhuru Kenyatta over Kenya’s debt distress.
Speaking during an interview at Spice FM, the Busia senator claimed that the euro bonds that were borrowed were never factored into the government books.
According to Omtatah, Kenya’s debt was at Ksh. 2.7 trillion when Kibaki left, but currently, it can be estimated to Ksh.12 trillion.
Omtatah now wants the lost money to be recovered as he believes that the debt increased under the regime of Jubilee and Kenya Kwanza administration.

He now vows to sue former President Uhuru Kenyatta for a recovery of about 4.6 trillion and President William Ruto for a recovery of about 2.6 trillion.
According to him, the amounts were borrowed under two presidents’ watch outside law and can be traced to the treasury’s book, but the use for the money was not recorded.
“That is why I’m using Uhuru Kenyatta for recovery of about Ksh4..6 trillion and Ruto for about Ksh 2.3 trillion. Let them give us back our money” the activist said.
He added that in his petition, he has attached the cabinet secretaries who were working with the two presidents.
“We need to understand the truth behind Kenya’s debt crisis. We can no longer stay silent,” he added.
