Protests erupted at Egerton University after a female student was attacked within the school premises.
According to reports, the victim was allegedly attacked by unknown individuals inside the school hostel on April 7, 2025 at night.
The student sustained critical injuries to her limbs inflicted by allegedly a machete.
The incident provoked university students who immediately began protesting outside the Institution’s gate, demanding the school administration’s intervention in the matter.
In an image and video shared online, students were seen gathering outside the institution before lighting a fire in protest of what they termed as persistent security issues within the institution.
The university administration has yet to comment on the matter.
The area police officers, on the other hand have launched a manhunt for the arrest of the suspects whose identities are yet to be established.
