A 66-year-old Scottish man was sentenced to life in prison after he brutally murdered his Kenyan wife who accused him of cheating.
The accused, Walter Buchanan, will serve at least 15 years in prison for killing his 37-year-old wife, Darrel Odhiambo.
Buchanan was found guilty of killing his wife by strangling her.
According to reports, Buchanan is said to have assaulted her and, as part of the assault, compressed her neck and restricted her breathing, causing her demise at their flat near Hamilton, Racecourse in Scotland.
According to the charge who ruled the case, the compression of her neck led to a brain injury, bruising, and a rib fracture on February 18, 2023.
Although the accused denied the charges, the jury found him guilty of murder in January 2024.
Buchanan, on the other hand, alleged that he thought she was asleep only to wake up with a cold body.
Upon citing the incident, he called the police, followed instruction for CPR and later told the officers that she had chocked.
He later on changed the story and alleged that she was drinking and fell downstairs.
But according to the postmortem results, there had been manual strangling and smothering.
The jury, on the other hand, found that at the time of the incident, the Scottish man either intended to kill or was so wickedly reckless as to the consequences of the actions which amounted to murder.
