The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has arrested 51 more suspects linked to the notorious gang ‘Panga boys’.
In a statement on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, DCI stated that the 51 gang members were arrested during an ongoing crackdown that was being carried the coastal region.
According to reports, they were operating in Kwale and Mombasa Counties.
This was after public concern from business owners, politicians and human rights advocates against the rise of criminal gangs.
The arrests were made around the neighborhoods of Corner ya Kisauni, Jocham Hospital, Barisheba, Sunlight, Mwandoni, Junda, Cobra and Kadongo grounds in Kisauni Subcounty.
Five tuk-tuks suspected of having been used in the snatching of phones were also confiscated during the arrest.
The suspects are being held at Mjambere Police Station.
They are currently undergoing processing before they can be granted a court appearance.
