The ICT Ministry has unveiled the National Artificial Intelligence Strategy set to position the country as Africa’s leader in AI innovation.
The launching, which took place at KICC, Nairobi will be a commitment to shaping Kenya’s digital future which will be from 2025 to 2030.
Among those who attended the launching were Cabinet Secretary (CS) William Kabogo, accompanied by ICT Principal Secretary John Tanui, Diaspora Affairs PS Roseline Njogu, European Union ambassador to Kenya Henriette Geiger and Trans Nzoia Senator Allan Chesang.
Speaking during the launch, CS William Kabogo said that the strategy reflects the ambitious path Kenya will take in transforming the digital sector and providing solutions to the country’s challenges.

“AI is changing the nature of work. While some work will be automated, it will also create new jobs spaces” he said.
The CS proposed the idea of taking university students who have studied AI into the public service space and promised to forward an AI Bill to Parliament within four months to regulate the sector.
“AI is not here to replace us but to enhance our potential. Our focus must be equipping our workforce with the right skills so that AI can be a catalyst in their operations,” Kabogo added.
