Shock as NPSC Chair Candidate Collapses and Dies Before Vetting

The National Police Service Commission (NPSC) chairperson candidate, Komora Mabudi Jilo, has passed away.

Jilo’s death came as a shock to his family as he passed away moments before he was set for the interview.

His death was confirmed by Tana River Senator Danson Mungatana, who posted on his X account, describing the deceased as a hard-working man who loved his family.

“I received this morning while in Arusha on an official visit, the sad news of the sudden passing away of Komora Jilo. Indeed, death found him while trying to take another step forward in his public service career. May God rest his soul in eternal peace,” he wrote.

According to reports, Jilo passed away at the Public Service Commission offices along Harambee Avenue.

The tragedy disrupted interviews on Tuesday, 25, 2025, which continued after he was transferred to the mortuary for autopsy.

His death comes barely weeks after the Public Service Commission (PSC) released a list featuring Jilo set to battle for the NPSC Chair job.

The list included Busia County Deputy Governor Kizito Wangalwa, Finance Director of the Judiciary Susan Oyatsi and Former Gatanga Member of Parliament Humphrey Kimani, among others.
