Fuel Tanker Explodes on Muhoroni-Londiani Highway Leaving Casualties

In the face of unexpected happenings, two firefighters who showed up at an explosion scene turned into casualties.

According to reports, a tanker ferrying petroleum products overturned along the busy Muhoroni-Londiani Highway and burst into flames at around 6:45 am.

The firefighters were the first to respond to the incident near the Ushirika shopping centre.

Reports further indicated that St John’s ambulance sent its emergency response team to complement the efforts of the first responders.

Witnesses around told Kenyans.co.ke that apart from the two, there were no other casualties but the fate of the driver and anyone in the truck remains unclear.

This isn’t the first time Kenya has witnessed a fuel tanker explosion.

Just two days ago, a fuel tanker and a lorry collided a few Kilometres from Mtito Andei and burst into flames.

Several other incidents have also been reported in the past such as the incident which happened in 2009 that left over 120 people dead.

A fuel tanker overturned and people around started siphoning fuel when it accidentally exploded.

Kenyans therefore should exercise caution as strict safety regulations are put in place.
