“This is to notify the public that the Authority has suspended Super Metro Limited’s operator licence until the Company fully complies with the Public Service Vehicles Regulations, 2014, and other set conditions,” the notice read in part.
The NTSA moreover noted that the Traffic Department is required to impound vehicles belonging to the Company found operating contrary to the suspension.
The suspension notice comes days after a passenger was allegedly pushed from a moving matatu connected to the SACCO.
It was reported that David and a tout who was part of the crew in the matatu allegedly pushed Gilbert Thuku Kimani from the matatu, causing his death.
The matatu in question, registration number KDL 125N, was on the fateful day being driven by David Nderitu.
The incident happened along Thika Road at Kahawa Sukari. Gilbert had boarded the matatu from Kahawa Wendani headed to Thika.
According to witnesses, Gilbert was to pay Ksh.80 as fare but he only had Ksh.50. An altercation ensued between him and the tout, leading to Gilbert being pushed out by the tout.
