Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja has stepped in to help a medical student at the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) pursuing orthopaedic and trauma medicine.
The aim to aid the student named Edna Mwango came just hours after her story was featured on Citizen TV.
Telling her story to the world, Mwango hawked vegetables on the streets of Kisii town to afford her school fees even deferring her studies twice.
Having been brought up by her grandparents, she relies on a quarter acre of land they own to grow the produce she later sells.
On empathizing with her story, Sakaja promised to cover all the school fees and upkeep for the rest of her studies.
Taking to his official channels on March 20 2025, the Nairobi Governor citizen TV that he would pay Edna’s school fees who he now admired her determination.
“I will sponsor her studies and her upkeep. She is doing everything she can to stay in school. Edna’s determination is admirable, and we will ensure she achieves her dream of becoming a doctor” Sakaja confirmed to Citizen TV.
