Yanga Princess Revenge 1-0 to Simba Queens in the Tanzanian Women’s League

YANGA Princess intensified their race to the Women’s Premier League title as they revenged the first-leg loss with a 1-0 victory over their traditional rivals Simba Queens in a fiercely contested second-leg game at KMC Stadium on a Tuesday evening.

Jeannine Mukandayisenga scored the winner for the Yanga Princess five minutes after the half-time resumption.

Both teams fought tooth and nail throughout the first half, but neither could break the deadlock, leaving the scoreline level at halftime. However, Yanga Princess came out with renewed energy after the break, creating several opportunities.

Yanga Princess came back strongly after the breather and made several attempts before one of them paid off in the 50th minute when Jeannine Mukandayisenga scored the vital goal for her team.

YANGA Princess moved a step closer to Tanzanian League leaders Simba Queens as the 1-0 victory takes Yanga to 3rd place with 27 points, while Simba is on top with 34 points.

The Kariokor Derby was also a Kenyan affair as reigning KWPL Most Valuable Player Lydia Akoth, now of Yanga Princess faced off against a powerhouse of Jentrrix Shikangwa, Corazone Aquino, Wincate Kaari and Elizabeth Wambui of Simba Queens.
