Catholics around the world have celebrated the Pope’s 12th anniversary by praying for his recovery.
Pope Francis, who was elected on March 13 2013, has been in hospital in Rome’s Gemelli hospital for almost a month.
He is currently being treated for double pneumonia and other infections and is also suffering from several respiratory crises.
The latest news from the Vatican said that the Pope is stable after a Chest X-ray and there have been improvements in his condition in the recent days.

Despite that, the Pope’s condition was still complex that he required further hospital treatment.
“The clinical condition of the Holy Father has remained stable in the context of an overall complex medical picture. The Chest X-ray (on Tuesday) has radiologically confirmed the improvements observed in the previous days,” a statement published by Vatican news.
Therefore, it is not clear when he will be discharged.
Although Pope Francis has not been seen in public since his hospital admission, an audio recording of him speaking in his native Spanish was played in St Peter’s Square in Vatican City.
His voice was heard thanking the faithful for their rosary prayers for his health, which was reported to be breathless and weak from his voice.
In recent days, the Pope has joined spiritual exercise prayers and meditation held at the Vatican via video link without being seen.
