MCAs in Nairobi Storms Sakaja’s Office Warn of Demolition After Controller of Budget’s Controversial Order

Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) have threatened to demolish Controller of Budget (COB) Margaret Nyakang’o’s offices following her latest controversial order.

Nyakango recently issued an order barring counties from using bursaries worth billions to aid students country.

In footage obtained by Kenyans.co.ke, the MCAs were seen demanding Nyakang’o’s removal from office and seeking Sakaja’s intervention towards the matter.

“We want to talk to the Governor! Today is the day! Enough is Enough! Nyakang’o must go! She has refused to give us money! She has no mercy towards the children of Nairobi and the children of Kenya,” the MCAs said.

Demanding Sakaja’s presence, he was seen with MCAs amused by the situation as it unfolded.

” Your Excellency, the governor. We are tired! Fight for us! Give us direction! If you tell us to go and demolish the COB’s office, we will go”!

This comes after Nyakango’s statement that the jurisdiction to issue bursaries to needy students was under the national government and not counties.

The order, therefore barred counties from issuing bursaries to students in universities, primary schools, special education institutions and secondary schools.

This meant that developed units would have full authority to fund students in other levels of education, including pre-primary schools and village polytechnics.
