The homicide detectives have arrested the prime suspect in the murder of British businessman Campbell Scott.
The suspect was arrested in Mombasa town on March 2 2025.
The arrest was confirmed by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Mohamed Amin.
“We have a prime suspect in the murder of Scott. The hunt for more suspects is ongoing. We hope to get more suspects involved in this callous murder,” he said.

He was reported to have been hiding in Mombasa since the incident on February 18 2025.
The suspect was driven out of his hiding place and brought to Nairobi, where the detectives plan to arraign him in court for an application to detain him.
Investigators on the other hand said that two accomplices were allegedly still hiding either in Nairobi or Mombasa.
They added that they had a breakthrough in the case following the suspect’s arrest.
The team further stated that the taxi driver and the waiter who were arrested earlier are innocent and would be used as witnesses in the case.
An earlier autopsy showed that the soft tissue injuries found on Scott’s body were too minor to kill him, making the pathologists pick samples for further tests.
The further autopsy conducted by government pathologist Dr. Richard Njoroge also failed to reveal the cause of his death.
After discovering Scott’s body in Makongo forest in Makueni, the police suggested that he was strangled or hit by a blunt object.
Believing that those who killed him were after his money, they held him for days in a house in Pipeline area in Nairobi before they killed him and transported the body to Makongo forest where it was discovered.
The suspects, therefore, fled to Mombasa, where they have been hiding.
