“It was on Friday, and I went to school a bit late. When I arrived, I entered the Grade 8 classroom and started teaching. All of a sudden, I felt a slap. When I turned to look, I saw that it was the head teacher, whose name is Dickens Omenda,” the JSS teacher claimed.
Onyancha also narrated that the head teacher dragged him to his office, closed it, and continued assaulting him.
“He dragged me to his office. When we got to the office, he locked the door, threw me to the ground, and kept beating and stomping on me. Now, I am helpless and in the hospital,” he added.
Following the incident, the Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers officials in Nyamira condemned the incident and demanded the Teachers’ Service Commission to take action against Omenda.
However, TSC Director in Nyamira County Erick Magak has said investigations have been launched against the Nyanchoka DEB headteacher.
