KDF Soldier Dies After Violent Altercation at Kericho Bar

Two suspects have been arrested in connection to the murder of a KDF soldier.

The KDF soldier identified as Ezekiel Bett, 32-year-old stationed in Ngong-Nairobi was reported to have got into a dispute with a bar waiter Caleb Momanyi at Maragon Trading Center Kipkelion West, Kericho County.

The confrontation escalated when the waited called his employer, Oliver Juma to intervene.

“During the altercation, Juma allegedly struck Bett on the head with a blunt object, causing serious injuries” Kipkelion Sub-County Police Commander Maurice Guddah stated.

The victim was intially taken to Kipkelion Sub-County Hospital before he was transferred to Kericho County Hospital referral hospital where he succumbed to death.

His body was moved to Kericho County Referral Hospital Mortuary for a postmortem examination.

Following Bett’s death, locals burned down the bar and an academy believed to be owned by Juma.

The police officers struggled for over six hours to contain the chaos.

According to the Kamasian Ward Representative known as Philp Rono, Bett and Juma had a history of personal disputes.

Juma and Momanyi on the other hand were taken to police custody and they will remain there as police investigations continues.
