A$ap Rocky Found Not Guilty in Assault Trial

Rapper A$ap Rocky alias Rakim Mayers has been acquitted of assault charges in a 2021 shooting case.

In a conclusion trial in Los Angeles, the singer was found not guilty of two counts of felony assault.

As the verdict was made, loud cheers could be heard in the courtroom while Rocky embraced his long partner Rihanna, his legal team among others.

Mayers was accused of firing a gun at his former friend, Terell Ephron.

During the weeks trial, the prosecutors said that he had shot a nine-millimeter semi-automatic weapon during the heated confrontation with Terell grazing his hands.

Mayers on the other hand insisted that he had only carried a harmless prop gun.

According to Ephron, he was lured into a parking garage and the two of them started exchanging words. It was then that Mayers pulled out the gun from his waistband and fired two bullets at him with one grazing at his knuckles.

But Attorney Joe Tacopina denied the claims stating that the weapon was just a prop gun used in pop movies and music videos.

Describing Ephron as a ‘criminal’, he added that seven police officers searched the shooting scene hours later but found neither shell casings nor a weapon.

If convicted, the father of two could have faced more than two decades in prison of the alleged attack in Hollywood in 2021.
