Bungoma Residents Protest Against Wetangula Impeachment Bid

Hundreds of residents in Bungoma held a peaceful protest against threats to impeach National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula.

The demonstrators were condemning opposition MP’s for pushing the Speaker’s removal over allegations of bias in parliamentary proceedings.

The protesters urged Ruto to protect him as he has been loyal to Kenya Kwanza.

“Wetangula is our son. He helped deliver the Western Kenya vote to Ruto in 2022. Those pushing for his impeachment should respect his contribution” one of the protesters told citizen.

The demonstrations came after Starehe MP Mwago threatened to file a motion of impeachment against Wetangula if he didn’t resign.

According to the Starehe MP, Wetangula has been responsible for the major causes of public disruption such as 2024 Anti Finance Bill which led to worldwide protests.

Apart from that, the high court ruled that Wetangula’s dual role as Speaker and leader of Ford Kenya was unconstitutional.

The court also ruled that Azimio was the Majority Leader in Parliament.

Despite that, Wetangula still declared Kenya Kwanza as the Majority Party in the National Assembly.
