Popular Social media platform TikTok was removed from the United States (US) briefly on January 19th due to a law that required its Chinese owner ByteDance either to sell it or face a ban.
The Lawmakers of the US wanted TikTok ban lifted on national security grounds.
As soon as President Donald Trump took over the seat as the President of the US, he immediately paused the ban enforcement for a period of 75 days allowing TikTok to continue its operation in the country.
Despite TikTok resuming its service after the President’s assurance, Google and Apple store did not restore the app.

According to reports, the two app stores were awaiting assurances so as to ensure that they won’t be prosecuted later on for hosting or distributing the app.
However, Trump directed that the companies which run the mobile application stores where users can download, and update apps would not face penalties for keeping the TikTok up and running.
He added that that the 75-day deadlines for TikTok ban pause could be extended.
He further stated that he will likely have a decision on the app’s future in February.
TikTok on the other hand announced on Thursday 13th February 2024 that its latest app was now available for download.
