Police have arrested three suspects in connection with a violent robbery in Kisumu County as investigations continue to dismantle a gang accused of terrorising residents through house break-ins.
In a statement on Sunday, August 2, the National Police Service (NPS) said the arrests followed investigations into a robbery in which armed suspects were captured on CCTV footage breaking into a victim’s home.
According to police, the gang, armed with pangas, metal bars and what appeared to be a pistol, forced their way into the residence before stealing assorted household items and fleeing the scene.

The breakthrough came after detectives arrested one suspect, who later provided information that led officers to the Rabuor area, where another suspected gang member was believed to be hiding.
During the operation, police arrested two additional suspects at the location. However, the key suspect identified during the investigations managed to escape and remains at large.
A search of the suspects’ hideouts led to the recovery of several items believed to have been stolen during the robbery.
Officers also recovered a toy pump designed to resemble a pistol, several SIM cards suspected to have been used in criminal activities, and tools believed to have been used to break into the victim’s house.
Police further recovered several rolls of bhang concealed inside the premises.
As investigations progressed, officers searched another rented house linked to the suspects in the same area, where they recovered more items suspected to have been stolen.
Among the items was a national identity card belonging to one of the robbery victims, further linking the suspects to the crime.
The three suspects were taken to Kasagam Police Station, where they remain in custody pending the completion of investigations.
Meanwhile, police have intensified efforts to trace and arrest the remaining suspect as investigations into the robbery continue.
