Two suspects believed to be key receivers in a mobile phone theft network have been arrested in an operation conducted by police officers in Shauri Moyo, Nairobi County.
The operation was carried out on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, by officers based at Shauri Moyo Police Station as part of efforts to crack down on the theft and illegal trade of electronic devices.
According to the National Police Service (NPS), the suspects were apprehended within the Burma Market area, where they are believed to have been involved in receiving stolen mobile phones.

During the operation, police conducted a search that led to the recovery of four mobile phones suspected to have been stolen.
The recovered devices include a Redmi RMX3834, Samsung Galaxy A05, Tecno Pop 9 and Samsung Galaxy A07.
Police noted that the two suspects remain in custody as officers complete the necessary processing before they are arraigned in court to face relevant charges.
The arrests form part of ongoing efforts by the National Police Service to dismantle networks involved in the theft and handling of stolen electronic devices.
The NPS stated that it remains committed to combating electronic theft and protecting citizens, residents, visitors and their property.
